Your strip curtain will be made to the exact size you specify - just select the width and height that you need in the options. We recommend that you order your strip curtain a little longer than you need and trim the strips to the perfect length once installed.
The right Strip Type depends on the application: Standard Smooth Clear is perfect for most strip curtains. If your door sees forklift traffic, Ribbed strips provide enhanced scratch resistance and durability. Low-Temp strips are ideal for freezer doors since they stay flexible at lower temperatures.
Strip Width and Percent Overlap are automatically selected for optimal performance based on the curtain size; however, you can customize them if needed for special applications.

Start by measuring the height and width of your doorway or opening. This is important as it ensures your plastic strip curtain kit will fit perfectly.
What equipment do I need to measure my doorway?
You can use either a traditional tape measure or an electronic measuring device to measure your door. We do not recommend using a measure app on a smartphone, as it can be very inaccurate in some situations.
How do I measure my doorway accurately?
To measure your door, start from the inside of the door frame for width, and from the floor to the top of the frame for height. Always double check your measurements for accuracy.
Should the strip curtain be the same size as the doorway?
That depends on whether the strip curtain hanger will be mounted inside the doorway on the bottom of the head jamb (jamb mount), or on the wall above the door (wall mount). Our mounting hangers can be used either way, but the mounting method used will determine the curtain size needed:
Inside of Doorway (Jamb Mount)
A jamb-mounted strip curtain should be the same size as the doorway, or slightly larger if the doorway is not a standard size (both the hangers and the strips can easily be trimmed to length for a perfect fit.)
Overlapping Doorway (Wall Mount)
A wall-mounted strip curtain should be several inches taller than the doorway, since it will be mounted above the door. In addition, the curtain should be 4 to 8 inches wider than the doorway, to allow it to overlap the sides of the doorway for a perfect seal.
What if the door measurements don't perfectly match your strip curtain sizes?
It's not a problem if the door measurements don't perfectly match our strip curtain sizes. The strip curtains can be easily trimmed to fit your doorway.

Next, select the type of PVC strip that suits your needs best. Different types are available, each designed for specific applications such as standard (for general usage), low-temp (for cold storage areas), welding (to block UV light), and others.
Which PVC Strip Type should I choose?
The choice of PVC Strip Type depends on your specific needs. Standard Smooth Clear is perfect for most applications. For doors with forklift or other machine traffic, Ribbed Clear strips provide enhanced scratch resistance for longer lifespan. For freezer doors, Low-Temp strips stay flexible at lower temperatures. Our strip curtain builder automatically selects the optimal Strip Width and Overlap based on the curtain size. However, you can customize these settings if needed for your specific requirements.
What strip sizes are available and how do I choose the right one?
We offer strip widths ranging from 6 inches to 16 inches wide. The optimal strip width depends mostly on door height: the higher the door is, the wider the strip width needs to be for proper sealing, since wider strips are also thicker and heavier. For small pedestrian doors, narrower and thinner strips offer easier pass-through.
What is the purpose of overlap on strip curtains?
Overlap on strip curtains helps to enhance insulation and maintain temperature control by eliminating gaps between the strips. More overlap can provide better insulation and sealing, but may also require more effort to pass through.
How do I decide on the level of overlap for my strip curtains?
Standard percent overlap works well for most applications, but you can customize the percent overlap for your specific requirements. Light (25%) overlap provides easier pass-through, but is recommended only for interior doors, as it may not seal as effectively in areas with moving air. Conversely, Full (100%) overlap is more difficult to pass through, but provides a more effective seal against airflow in high-draft areas.
